The Queen is recognisable the world over as one of the icons of the 20th and 21st centuries. Here Rugman provides an interpretation of how society has shaped our perception of one woman.
As usual, Rugman gives us a lot to think about. Is the image disrespectful? Is it celebratory? It is certainly a reflection on the pageantry and industry that surrounds such a figurehead.
About the artist:
Born and raised in Glasgow, Rugman has lived and worked in east London for the last 10 years. The artist is usually either locked away in his studio in Hackney Wick painting, or papering and stencilling the streets of east London.
